Description: In a dark blue cloth cover with silver titles to spine and front. With a clipped dust jacket with black titles and drawing to front. 188 pp., extensively illustrated. The book is in very good condition with just minor shelf-wear to the extremities of the cover and a few minor marks to boards. The binding is tight. There is a little foxing to the paste downs and a bookseller's label to the bottom gutter corner of the front paste down. There are two sets of former owner's details, an ex libris label, some small markds and a small tear to the fore edge of the ffep. There is very light tanning to the pages, four pages have small marks in the margins, otherwise the pages are clean and unmarked. There is extensive shelf-wear to the extremities of the dust jacket and a few liquid spill marks. The dust jacket has been repaired with a clear plastic cover, this has yellowed over time and the extremities are shelf-worn.

Original quarter beige buckram over blue and grey printed paper boards. Spine stamped in gilt. Light blue morocco spine label, lettered in gilt. A near fine copy. With publisher’s slipcase. Slipcase worn and cracked, with some tape repairs. Since the age of fourteen, when he was apprenticed to a firm of lithographers in Edinburgh, William Russell Flint (1880-1969) wanted to paint. His first job was in London as a medical illustrator, where he honed his skills and was finally employed as staff to The Illustrated London News. He became one of the finest watercolorists of his time, and an artist of supreme technical ability. Even though he was noted for painting brilliant landscapes, his chief market, was his work of semi-nude nymphets. This group of drawings include his numerous nudes, as well as his scenes and portraits. He achieved the accolade of Royal Academicians and became president of the Royal Society of Painters in Water-Colours, as well as being knighted in 1947. lovely copy, contains portraits of famous actors and artists, now for the first time published. The steel lithograph in the original envelope as issued is both signed on the plate and hand signed by Flint.
