Description: The last title referenced on the rear flap of the jacket is The Shaggy Man of Oz which was first published in 1949. So, even though 1908 is the only date on the copyright page, this book was likely published in or shortly after 1949. All the illustrations are in black and white. As you can see from the photos, the covers are very clean and in very good condition. The only wear is a couple of light corner creases and a bit of crinkling at the spine ends. The book is square and very solidly bound from cover to cover, nicely tight pages, no cracks or spaces, no binding issues. There is light dust staining on the top page edge, a spot or two on the middle page edge. I think the pages in the book look pretty good. The great majority of them are perfectly clean. However, there are 24 pages (I turned over every page in the book) that have a small stain or a few small stains (mostly in the margin). There aren't any conspicuous creases. There are a few instances where the very tip of a corner had been turned over. I flattened them out, leaving a tiny crease. There aren't any tears. There aren't any markings or attachments. There is a penciled name under the 'This Book Belongs To'. She also wrote under her name 'when I was 10 years old.' There is no other writing of any kind to be found anywhere in the book. You can see the dust jacket in the first three photos. Note that the front and rear of the jacket have the same illustration. So does the front of the book itsellf which you can see in the fourth photo. I've had the jacket in a fitted protective cover for as long as I've owned the book. It has a small loss at the top edge of the spine and just to the left and right of that. It also has the larger loss at the bottom edge of the spine taking out part of the publishers name. There's a small tear coming up from the bottom edge of the rear cover and one coming off the top edge of the rear cover. There's also a closed tear on the spine. The flaps are in very good condition, no tears or loss. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. The original price was $2.50. From the front flap a quote about the book from a Harry Hansen (described as a 'famous literary book critic with a nationally syndicated newspaper column'): 'This delightful Oz book follows The Land of Oz and Ozma of Oz. It continues the fascinating wonder-tale about the Land of Oz and its charming fairy people. Dorothy, with a little boy companion, name Zeb, and Jim, the Cab Horse, are swallowed up in an earthquake. They reach a strange vegetable land whence, by the aid of the Wizard Of Oz whom they meet there, they escape to the Land of Oz and renew acquaintance with Princess Ozma, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, the Cowardly Lion, and all the old favorites. Among the new and delightful characters are Eureka, Dorothy's pink kitten, and the Nine Tiny piglets.'
