The text block is square and the binding tight but there is a gift inscription on the ffep and there are a couple of small dents in the boards, front and back. The colours of the dust jacket drawing by Duncan Grant the background on the front and spine panel are strong and bright but there is a tiny tear at the top of back fold over flap and some dents corresponding the the ones on the boards mentioned above.

Her diaries provide a unique insight into intellectual London and reflections on the struggles in Virginia's life, as well as on her progress as a writer, on her relationship with Leonard Woolf, and on her final years before her suicide in 1941.
