Description: A gorgeous copy of the 1946 1st edition, with 4 original drawings by Marc Chagall complementing Claire Goll's charming text. This copy unsigned and out-of-series but nonetheless part of the original printing of only 300 copies. Just a touch of very light staining at the inner hinge (along the upper intersection of the front free endpaper and front pastedown), otherwise clean as could be. Also includes a lovely, Near Fine example of the publisher's glassine/wax dustjacket. Tall, thin quarto, printed by Peter Beilenson in Mount Vernon, NY.
