Description: Complete with a Certificate of Authenticity issued by Gallery BAM of Yellow Springs, Ohio, 2016, with the former owner, Brad Myers, attesting the authenticity of the lithograph as it was issued initially by Maeght Editeur of Paris, France, in Issue 212, January 1975, pp. 12-13. Comprised of a double-page lithograph published in Derriere Le Miroir, literally translated as "behind the mirror," a French art magazine published from just-post W.W.I.I. until 1982. D.L.M. featured Limited Edition prints, artist biographies, art history and criticism and artist statements galore. As issued, with faint vertical crease in middle, mounted on matte-board measuring 23" wide by 15 3/4" tall, with half-inch margins all around. Neither blemishes nor smudges, neither marks nor fading or discoloration evident. All in, a quite fine, affordable exemplar of the lithographic reproductions of Alexander Calder (1898-1976), an American artist best known for his innovative sculptures, often referred to as "mobiles" or "stabile sculptures." He was considered also a highly accomplished print-maker, having specialized in linocuts and woodcuts but eventually coming to specialize also in etching, lithography, and screen-printing. His works are recognizable at-a-glance for their big, bold abstract shapes and colors (blue, yellow, red, and black on white). He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by then U.S. President Gerald Ford but refused it in protest of the Vietnam War (but it was awarded to him posthumously the following year) (Printed Editions). The edition in which this double-page lithograph appeared contains six original lithographs in color including three in double-page format, one (this one) original in black-and-white. The edition was published in January 1975 for the Calder exhibition that was held at the Galerie Maeght. Text by Mario Pedrosa.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.

Contents in Fine condition, free from spotting, foxing etc. No stains or finger-marking - a very clean and bright copy, the colours are vivid and goregeous. One minor fault - there is a very small pinch at the spine/fold which carries through to the same place at all of the signatures - unsure whether it is a sign of a "bump" or some kind of production fault. otherwise, a Fine example.
