MILLER, Arthur.. Death of a Salesman. Certain Private Conversations in Two Acts and a Requiem.. New York: The Limited Editions Club, 1984, 1984.

Price: US$487.33 + shipping

Description: Limited Editions Club edition, number 160 of 1,500 copies signed by Miller and Baskin; a very attractive edition of Miller's renowned tragedy, first performed and published in 1949. This edition includes a new foreword by the author, reflecting on the popular reception of Salesman as a "sad play" and contrasting the humble origins of the play with the elegance of the present edition. The five haunting etchings by Baskin nonetheless depict Willy Loman's gradual slide into apathy and senility. Baskin, a sculptor and graphic artist, founded the Gehenna Press, which published limited edition and finely illustrated books. Quarto. Original reddish brown morocco, spine lettered in gilt, spine, covers and turn-ins ruled in blind. With grey publisher's slipcase lettered in gilt. With 5 full page etchings by Leonard Baskin. Minor rubbing to covers; minor rubbing to slipcase corners: a near-fine copy in like slipcase.
