Description: Printed in Great Britain. Date on the title page. First Impression. Editorial Note, Footnotes, References, Index; 396 pages. The dark green cloth is in excellent shape, with bold gilt lettering on the spine as bright as if just issued; the binding is strong but there are three tiny spots on the upper board and bumping to the bottom corner. The interior is bright, crisp, and completely clean; however, condition is downgraded because of the aforementioned bump that shows on the pages. [Please see my five images of the actual book.] The original dustjacket is unclipped but has a sunned spine and several chips and small tears; all text still legible. Included here are papers published since the issue of the fourth volume and some earlier ones omitted from the series; about a dozen of the papers included here appear for the first time in English. As with every book from my father's collection, tipped-in at the front is the small, attractive, acid-free bookplate pictured on my homepage. All books are wrapped with special care and are shipped promptly with tracking; international sales sent via global priority, also with tracking.

Green cloth with gilt lettering on the spine. 2274 historical and informative pages! "To write a preface it often a perfunctory matter, but in the preface to this series of Collected Papers we wish to direct the reader's special attention to two cardinal considerations. In the first place it should be said that these Collected Papers, of which the present is the first volume, constitute the real basis of Psycho-Analysis. All Professor Freud's other work and theories are essentially founded on the clinical investigations of which these papers are the only published record. It is unfortunate that the English-speaking public should for years have had access only to what may be called the superstructure of his work, the application of his psycho-analytic method to the study of dreams, sexuality, totemism, and so on, while the basis of it all remained buried in a foreign tongue." ------- from the Editorial Preface. (5 VOLUME SET). Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall
