With a lengthy introduction by Glenn Todd. Hoyem has commented on these wood-blocks and their striking appearance as "images of arresting moments from this dark drama in his woodcuts that appear on each page of the four narrations, giving a parallel visual interpretation throughout the book." The twenty-fourth Arion Press edition. The types are Frederic W. Goudy's Kennerley Bold, handset for the main texts, composed in Monotype for the introduction and subsidiary material, with Rudolf Koch's Neuland Inline for display.
