Price: US$121.79 + shipping

Condition: Very Good

Description: 1937. Second impression before publication. 447pp. Dorothy L. Sayers (1892-1957) was a crime writer during the "Golden Age of Detective Fiction", and is probably best known for her detective stories featuring Lord Peter Wimsey. Busman's Honeymoon is her eleventh and last featuring Lord Peter Wimsey, and her fourth and last to feature Harriet Vane. Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane marry and go to spend their honeymoon at Talboys, an old farmhouse in Hertfordshire which he has bought her as a present. The honeymoon is intended as a break from his usual routine of solving crimes, and hers of writing about them, but it turns into a murder investigation when the seller of the house is found dead at the bottom of the cellar steps with severe head injuries. The book is bound in the original black cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some soiling on the boards and a very small bit of damage to the cloth on the corner tips. There is noticeable wear to the titling on the spine and the spine ends are bumped with a little damage to the cloth on the rear spine corners and bottom of the spine. The contents are tight and clean with a name written on the front free endpaper.

Description: (London: Victor Gollancz Ltd, 1937). First UK Edition. Hardcover. THE ADRIAN HOMER GOLDSTONE COPY. Publisher's black boards with gilt lettering to the spine. Mild surface loss to the bottom edge (hardly worth mentioning otherwise VG indeed. Both the front and rear free end-papers have a strip of ghosting (likely caused by an old dust wrapper protector). Has the all-important erratum slip on page 335. The VG yellow Gollancz dustwrapper (printed in black and magenta) is priced 8/6 net to the spine (as called for) and is browned to the spine (as usually found) with a slither of loss at the head and minor marks here-and-there to the back cover. On the verso are glue remnants in several places caused by sellotape (long since removed). Colleen B Gilbert A 25 b.1. Published June 1937. Looks nicer than it sounds.
