Philippe, Charles-Louis. Preface by T.S. Eliot. Bubu of Montparnasse. Crosby Continental Editions. Paris, 1932.

Price: US$100.00 + shipping

Condition: Fair

Description: Softcover. Printed paper wraps. Faded with chips to the paper spine. Cover printed in blue, with distinctive Crosby Continental Editions emblem on the front cover. Rear cover detached. Front cover held on by a tape repair at the front gutter. 218 pages. Slight discoloration (perhaps from water) to the bottom half inch of the final few dozen pages, never escaping the margin. Text block clean and tight. This is an early Imprint in the series. On the back cover says, "Not to be introduced into the British Empire or USA." The Crosby Continental Editions was a project undertaken by Caresse and Henry Crosby, who were the founders of the Black Sun Press (which they were running at the same time as the CCE imprint). The CCE editions did not sell well and she closed the business in 1933. This copy is housed in a folding chemise, to keep it together.
