Basically still well bound together but with wear, whilst all pages are still attached a few are looseish probably from where some plates have been removed. Both title pages present. Description: xi, 625, [1] p. 23 cm. 34 plates, including frontispiece. Full leather with gilt trim. Spine label chipped, spine tail scuffed, corners worn, rear hinge cracked. Some foxing and dampstains. Ink signature on title page. Title continues: "Embracing Practical Instructions in Shooting-Hunting-Coursing-Racing-Cocking-Fishing, &c. With Observations on the Breaking and Training of Dogs and Horses; Also the Management of Fowling Pieces, and all other Sporting Implements." First chapter includes interesting commentary on human cruelty to animals and how to balance hunting and field sports with fair play and ethical behaviour. It is followed by a plea for the revoking of Britain's Game Laws, which have led to "the demoralization of vast and increasing numbers of the labouring class in the country" by forcing them into poaching.

Extremely scarce with colored plates! Rebacked, with red spine labels. Foxing scattered, occasionally on the heavy side. Plates generally attractive, even when can see light foxing as in frontis. Majority are clean, or with light soilage in margins. Binding is tight.
