Description: xv, 70, [1] pp. plus frontispiece portrait, 8vo, quarter natural linen, pale green paper sides, edges untrimmed, paper label on backstrip titled in gilt, slipcase. Printed by the Grabhorn Press on mould-made paper. Design on title page and chapter headings by Mallette Dean in gold and black. Laid in is a printed announcement of this publication from the publisher. No. 104 of 178 copies. This copy is that of James Strohn Copley (1916-1973), the journalist, newspaperman, and publisher of the San Diego Union-Tribune (his sale, Sotheby's, June 17, 2010, lot 235), with his bookplate on the front pastedown. A fine and fresh copy of the book in a very good slipcase (scuff marks on one side, evidence of sticker removal on the other, lightly rubbed at some edges). Mallette Dean's gorgeous designs remain vibrant. Magee 510.
