Poems by eleven Mexican poets. Signed at the colophon by Chagoya, Paz, and Weinberger, as issued. One hundred and forty-one copies in the edition, of which one hundred and twenty-one were offered for sale. This copy number 29 of 85 copies in slipcase. Prospectus include, in original publisher's mailing envelope. ; Folio 13" - 23" tall; Making Books in the Woods: 4to; 10 leaves; printed title on opaque paper endpapers. One thousand copies were printed. The type was set in Bembo by Monotype at M&H Type in San Francisco, and by hand at the Press. Illustrated with photographs of the Press taken by Brian Shea and printed by duotone offset lithography. A description of a distinctive approach to the printing of fine books - in a barn - within the relatively remote confines of Covelo, situated in the Round Valley region of California.

Description: A Fine - oversize book approximately 14 by 10 inches – in a Near Fine slipcase with slight rubbing, touch of edge wear and several light spots on one side. This limited edition book (11 of 81 numbered copies) contains twelve poems, a collection of classical Mexican poetry spanning five centuries by eleven of Mexico's greatest poets, with an introduction by Weinberger, commentary and notes on each poem by Nobel Laureate Paz, and a discussion between Weinberg and Paz concerning Beckett’s (also a Nobel Laureate) translation of the poems. The book includes multicolor etchings created especially for this edition by Enrique Chagoya who is becoming one of the most highly regarded Mexican-American artists of his generation. The twelve full-page plates were produced by the master printer, Jesus Romero under the supervision of the artist; each signed in pencil by Chagoya. Book is signed on a limitation page by Paz, Weinberger, and Chagoya. The text is printed entirely in letterpress on handmade paper. Publisher's printed paper over special split boards, that have been hand sewn and slipcased. The binding structure was designed by Julie Chen; Renee Menge bound the book by hand. This is a very unusual, beautiful, and scarce book.
