(The other was on the nature of fevers). His main fame though comes as a poet, novelist, biographer, and essayist. Most famous of these are `The Autocrat of the Breakfast-Table' (1858) and several subsequent volumes where he presents imaginary conversations at a Boston boardinghouse, full of Holmes's urbane opinions, charm, and wit.
