Description: First edition, hardcover, has very slight lean to spine, faintest touch of bowing to boards, previous owner's name to first free endpage, and slight bumps to spine ends and upper corners of boards, with cloth starting to fray at top of spine, otherwise a solid VG+ copy in Poor dust jacket which lacks spine plate below price and is split along front hinge, with small area of rear panel at base of spine split from rest of panel, tears and chips to top of spine, corners and panel edges, faint rubbing and light creasing to panels, and some small spots of staining to spine.

Blind stamp on title page. No other writing or marks. Interior is clean and tight. Subtitle states with seventeen plates in colour, eight monotone plates, and numberous illustrations in black and white. All are present EXCEPT the line drawing opposite page 64 which includes the Nine Field Designs of Guls of the Tekke, Salor and Saryk Turkomans and of Bokharans AND Six Field Designs of Guls of the Yomut Turkomans and of the South-Western Afghanistan Group. The color illustrations through show various rugs and carpets. The monochrome illustrations show more rugs and parts of rugs. The Line drawings (seven listed) show maps, knots, and designs. 21 pages of preface and introduction plus 130 pages with index + 2 pages of ads for other books by this publisher. Chapters on Turkoman History, Turkoman Ethnograph, Points of a Rug, Origin of Carpet Weaving, Process of Weaving and Materials, Summary of the General Characteristics of Turkoman Rugs, Design, General Remarks of Nomenclature, Bokhara and Its People, Bokhara Carpets, Various Turkoman Rugs, and Two Southern Persian Rugs. Except for the one missing line drawing page, this is solid copy of a scarce reference and historical piece.
