The work tells the story of Belinda Grove, a fictional Regency house in the suburbs North of London whose inhabitants are influenced by a ghost. Ashton (1891-1958) was a prolific author with an interest in architecture, history and antiquities. This is the publisher's retained copy with their stamp to the title page. The work was first published in the US the preceding year. Octavo. Original black cloth, spine lettered in green. With dust jacket. Minor foxing to edges and endpapers; an excellent copy in the jacket that has a sunned spine and some nicks to extremities.
