Description: First edition, very good with no dust jacket. Blue cloth with gilt lettering and illustrations on spine and front board. The front board is a little rubbed, as is the spine. Owner's stamp with a phone number written below at top of front endpaper and rear pastedown. Very light soiling to a few internal pages, with very light pencil lines in the margins of some pages. ". an authentic record of and for those combat airmen in the European Theatre of Oprations who, as prisoners of war, were confined in Stalag Luft I, Barth, Germany." The entire book, including illustrations (some in color), was written during the time in the prisoner of war camp. The autjor brought the components home after the war and arranged them into this book. Included are facsimiles of 4 examples of a daily newsletter smuggled to the prisoners, and a list of prisoners. The book pages are not numbered, but it appears to be around 300 total pages.

It was written there, illustrations were drawn there and photographs taken there and later compiled. Covers missions ending in disaster that resulted in confinement and contains a directory of prisoners, identified by state as well as facsimiles of a prison newsletter.
