Uncommon bibliography that was produced in an edition of 160 copies and covers early printing in the Territory, with chapters on the first printings (white notes, First Epistle, Second Epistle); The Deseret News; A bibliography of 42 Territorial press items; a section of facsimile title pages and broadsides; a chapter on early periodicals. "In the record of the spread of printing throughout the United States, one of the conspicuous gaps has been the lack of adequate account of early printing in the State of Utah. While a fair amount of attention has been given to the history of the newspaper and commercial press in other western states, the work of the printers in the home of the Latter-day Saints has been quite overlooked, except for a brief article on the Deseret News and an occasional sentence or paragraph in a few histories of general character." - p.9.

Johnson, printed on Italian handmade paper, fore edge and bottom edge left uncut, top edge gleaming gilt. very light previous owner name ghost (erased pencil) on top of first free page, slight binders error with thin separation of first free page (mid page along gutter) from binding in middle of page, page holding tight, else Fine. Detailed account of Mormon publishing from 1849 -1860 with bibliography, section of Illustrations show some Latter Day Saint printed material: card, Ordinances, bulletins and a fold out Deseret News.
