Description: FIRST EDITION, first impression. 8vo. (7.3 x 5.1 inches). viii, 390pp, 16pp publishers adverts at end dated August 1889. Illustrated with 8 full page mono plates and scores of smaller illustrations throughout the text by Ford, G. P. Jacomb-Hood and Lancelot Speed. Publishers decorated dark blue cloth binding with gilt illustration to the front board and spine, which is also lettered in gilt. The book has been professionally re-cased and has new plain white endpapers. All edges gilt. Some marks and spots to a few pages but overall this is a very good copy internally with the binding showing some wear and minor chipping to the extremities, particularly the top of the spine. Overall a near to very good copy of the first of Lang's colour Fairy books.

Description: 390 pp. 8vo. Gray & cream paper-covered boards. Large paper edition, limited to 150 copies, of which this is numbered 40. Illustrations by H. J. Ford and G. P. Jacomb Hood. Toning to spine strip, soiling and chipping to boards, heaviest at spine ends. Discoloration and pencil marginalia to endpapers, otherwise interior clean. Signed in ink by American book collector and Bronte scholar, Henry H. Bonnell (1859-1926) on rear free endpaper, with notation in pencil stating he acquired the book on 8/1/18.

Description: 1st 1889. Almost very good condition with no wrapper. Blue cloth covers, gilt title to spine and vignettes to spine and front cover. B/w illustrations throughout. 390 pages plus 16 page booklist to rear. All edges gilt. Catalogue to rear of book is dated August 1889. Spine is bumped with wear and faded. Corners are bumped. Front hinge next to frontis page is cracked, with browning glue marks showing. Frontis is edge-creased with a few nicks and some foxing. Tissue guard to frontis is heavily foxed. A couple of hinges are pulled. Foxing to varying degrees to pages throughout book. Packaged with care and promptly dispatched!

Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the occasional scattered spot. Gift inscription to the recto of the frontispiece.
