Caramel colour leather-bound with gilt decorative design on the covers and spines, and gilt title on the spine; all edges gilt; four raised bands; silk moire endpapers; sewn-in silk ribbon bookmark. ----- CONDITION: Clean, unmarked pages, except for a price and a two digit number in pencil on the top right corner of the front free endpaper. Tight text block and strong joint and hinges. Very slight loss of gilt to the top and front edges in few spots. Boards are clean and free of scuffs. Slight wear to the leather in the corners. ----- ABOUT THIS TITLE: First published in 1925, Arrowsmith won the 1926 Pulitzer Prize, although Lewis declined the award. The novel explores themes related to science, ethics, ambition, and the pursuit of truth.
