Gaiman, Neil; Matuszak, Dagmara [artist]. Anansi Boys - Signed Lettered Edition. Hill House; Peter Schneider, 2007.

Price: US$4500.00 + shipping

Condition: Very Good

Description: Slipcased 'Anansi Boys' and an auxiliary hardback 'Notebooks' volume, in wooden box: both letter 'A,' from an intended lettered edition of 52 copies which was never produced in full. Signed by Neil Gaiman and artist Dagmara Matuszak at the limitation page of 'Anansi Boys,' and by Gaiman alone at the limitation page of 'Notebooks.' Anansi Boys's numbered edition was one of the last publications from Peter Schneider's Hill House Publishers before it closed doors, but production never proceeded on the lettered edition. Consequently, this copy is unique, housed in the varnished wooden box created by Schneider himself as a prototype for the lettered edition's slipcase. Anansi Boys bound in black leather at spine and black cloth, with decoration in blind and an illustration plate at front panel. Very good with light scuffing to front. In black cloth slipcase with wooden spider panel at front, very good with light scuffing, thin pale marking to front. No jacket, as issued. Spine square. Binding sound. Pages bright, text unmarked. 'Notebooks' bound in red cloth with matching illustration panel, very good, with small faint stain to front hinge and cloth pilling slightly. Binding sound, pages bright and unmarked. Also includes 25 loose leaf tip-in pages signed by Neil Gaiman, intended for copies of the hardcover 'Notebooks' which were never produced; and a typed letter signed by publisher Peter Schneider, explaining the origin and provenance of this unique work.
