The gilt text on the spine remains bright and undamaged. There is an early prior owner's name neatly written on the front paste down over the date 1841. Bound in at the rear of the book is the 18 page Tilt and Bogues Catalogue. 59 pages of text and illustrated throughout with woodcuts and etchings on stone and steel plates by Cruikshank.

Good (Restoration work - the book was bought in by us with the front board detached. The spine leather has been lifted to enable the back of the spine to be cleaned off, re glued with p.v.a.and new fray not mull, new Oxford hollow and a matching grained morocco leather spine to be fitted. The original Zaehnsdorf leather spine has been re laid with p.v.a. inevitably there is some evidence of the end papers have been disturbed as it was necessary to split the boards to fit the new mull. Whilst our skills are not up to Zaehnsdorf's standards of workmanship it is hoped that the new owner will find the result very respectable. As to the book block - there is no previous owner name or insc. 4 of the five etchings from the steel plates by Mr Yates are significantly browned with mirror offsetting of the images to the opposite leaf, inexplicably that of Philoprogenitiveness is not so affected. Pencil note to reverse of rear free end paper Suckly 10/- and a job or stock reference number).
