Description: 24pp extract, printed in double columns, illustrated with a full-page map of Alaska and part of British Columbia showing the Yukon River from its source in British Columbia to its mouth in Alaska, which was Schwatka's course, and 21 drawings after sketches by the author, fina page-only of Part I was damaged and is here presented in reproduction, salvaged from damaged issues of The Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine, Volume XXX, Nos. 5/6, September / October, 1885. Lieutenant Schwatka's 1883 raft expedition into Alaska and the British Northwest Territory mostly to gather military information on the native Indian tribes. The author's book, Along Alaska's Great River, would be published later in the year by Cassell & Company, New York. Housed in protective mylar report cover.
