Dust jacket is torn and chipped with tears along creases, held in one piece by tape repair. Original slipcase is Poor: torn and tape-repaired.

Katherine Mansfield Beauchamp Murry (1888-1923) was born in New Zealand, and moved to Great Britain in 1908; she died of the effects of tuberculosis, contracted during World War I, at the age of thirty-four. This is the 1st American edition in a limited edition of only 950 copies, this being copy number 7. This was a novel begun in 1916, at last published. a tragic loss to world literature at the tender age of 34, she was author of the Garden party.

Description: Tall Octavo. Limited to 850 copies. The present copy is number 904. Mansfield destroyed more than 3/4 of her manuscripts. She kept only those she attached importance to, especially for future works. The greater part of the Aloe, after much reshaping was incorporated into Prelude in 1917. But, the Aloe contains much material that was not used as readers familiar with Prelude will quickly discover. A fine bright copy bound in dark gray-green paper covered boards, paper spine label, in plain dust jacket with small chip to lower edge of front panel and head of spine, housed in publisher's slipcase with paper label. Only minor wear to slip case.
