Description: Hardcover, oblong octavo bound in blue cloth lettered in silver, lacking dust-jacket. 122 pages. Index. Illustrated throughout with black and white photographs and a map. First edition, with no other printings indicated on copyright page. A compendium of fifty-one civilian, commercial and military aircraft representing the state of American aviation just prior our entry into World War II. An early Gann title. He was "an American aviator, author, sailor, and conservationist. He is best known for his novels and memoirs about early aviation and nautical adventures. Some of his more famous aviation novels include The High and the Mighty and Island in the Sky, both of which were turned into Hollywood movies". No previous ownership marks. Light scuffing to front cover and somewhat heavier marking to rear cover. A clean, sound, internally unmarked copy, hinges strong, no writing or marking to text or illustrations. Not ex-library. A good or better copy.

Description: Hardcover, in dustjacket. Oblong format. NAP. Gann's second book. Info and B&W pictures of WW2 vintage Military and Civil aircraft. Scarce in dustjacket. Just a bit of VERY light surface rubbing. Front board bowed out just a bit at the fore-edge. Else the binding is quite clean. Page edges just a bit age-toned, and small, fairly faint smudge on the page bottom edges. Else page s clean. There are tears, with associated creasing at the bottom of the DJ rear panel. Also some tears and creasing at the top of the DJ rear panel. Small chip, and some bumping at the bottom edge of the DJ front panel. Light bumping, tiny chips at the DJ spine extremities. There is a bit of light surface rubbing in the top title bar of the DJ. DJ price-clipped. The DJ front cover art is clean & bright. ; B&W Photographs; 26D; 7-3/4" x 9-1/2"; 122 pages
