Description: Centenary Edition. Quarto [25.5 cm] 180pp. bound in decorative gilt-stamped red cloth over boards. Illustrated with 12 tipped-in colour plates with printed tissue guards by Gwynedd M. Hudson, along with numerous two-tone and monochrome illustrations. All plates are crisp and bright. Ex libris plate of C.H.L.Bledisloe on blank endpaper, verso of frontis. The binding is a little worn and sun bleached along spine and on back board with some small marks. Inside two pages have small 1cm inner margin tears, there is quite a lot of spotting throughout, however the plates are very clean. I suspect by the type of paper that was used in the production of this book, many have succumbed to spotting/foxing. Gwynedd Hudson was a British artist and designer who created exceptional illustrations for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Peter Pan. Description: This book is in Very Good condition. There are no bookplates, signatures, or markings of any kind. The gilt lettering and decoration to the outside boards is bright and unrubbed. There is some light rubbing to the edges of the spine. The pages are clean and free of any foxing. This is the Limited Edition, #1484 of only 1500 copies. The book is signed by Alice Hargreaves, who was Lewis Carrol's inspiration for the original books. Of the 1500 copies it is estimated that less then 500 copies were signed by Alice Hargreaves. The book feature 42 black and white illustrations by John Tenniel. This book comes with its original slipcase. The slipcase is foxed and rubbed at its edges. A rare signed copy of Carroll's classic work.

Internally, half title, frontis, title with vignette, [4], (v-xi), [1], [2] contents, [3], 4-182 pp, [1], [1], [1] limitation leaf, an edition limited to 1500 copies, small mark to lower cover (not detracting), a.e.g., signed by Frederic Warde (Typographer & binder) to limitation & Alice to leaf after half title. In the publishers printed red cloth slip case. (220*146 mm). Dodgson, was about 6 feet tall, slender, had either grey or blue eyes, wore his hair long, and 'carried himself upright, almost more than upright, as if he had swallowed a poker'. He dressed customarily in clerical black and wore a tall silk hat, but when he took Alice and her sisters out on the river, he wore white flannel trousers and a hard white straw hat (A. and C. Hargreaves, Alice's recollections). He ate frugally when he ate at all, disliked tea but enjoyed a glass of wine.
