Description: Nadine Gordimer (born 20 November 1923) is a South African writer and political activist. She was awarded the 1991 Nobel Prize in Literature when she was recognised as a woman "who through her magnificent epic writing has - in the words of Alfred Nobel - been of very great benefit to humanity". In 1958 she published her fourth book and second novel. Here is a near-fine plus copy in a near-fine plus dust jacket. The dark red cloth is clean and unmarked with square, unbumped corners. The contents are clean and bright internally, with light soiling and toning to the text block edges. There are no ownership inscriptions, or markings of any kind. The yellow Gollancz dust jacket is bright, clean, and unclipped with almost no discernible edgewear. The spine is slightly browned. This remarkably nice copy is further enhanced by the presence of the Book Society wraparound strip - an improbable survivor after more than 50 years.
