Description: Book Club edition unknown printing of a very good hardcover with a previous owner's name on the ffep and a bump to the top front board and the first few pages of the textblock, and a slight lean, in a very good dustjacket with minor wear to the extremities, a crease where the bump occurred and a bit of loss to the front at the bottom. Collects the first two novels "Call For The Dead" and "A Murder Of Quality" in the George Smiley spy/adventure series, an intelligence officer for the British Overseas Intelligence Agency. "Call For The Dead" was the basis for the 1967 film "A Deadly Affair" starring James Mason. "Call For The Dead" was a finalist for the 1961 Gold Dagger Award.

Description: US First edition of Le Carré s second book which was published one year earlier in the UK. Octavo, pp 190. Bound in mustard yellow cloth covered hard boards with black lettering to the spine, and with the original dust jacket which is un-clipped and priced $3.50 to the top corner of the front flap. The book is in Near Fine condition, bright, clean, square and unmarked (the only thing stopping me from grading this Fine is a slight inward curve to the top corner of the pages). The jacket is faded to the spine as usually found and has a small chip to the top of the spine and some edge wear, overall Very Good Minus. Attractive copy of an uncommon early Le Carré title.

A near fine book in a very good dust jacket. Boards are bit splayed, but book retains the original yellow binding with no bumped corners.
