Covers are marked, edges scuffed, 302 pages plus advertisementsminor foxing and use wear/marks, binding tight but a little stressed in places, with the threads visible along the gutter, spine rolled. Overall a Good, early copy of this classic story. Complete with the colour frontispiece (protected by its tissue guard) and the seven full page colour plates, as called for. Frontispiece colour illustration with tissue guard plus 7 colour illustration, compl. collated. Ornamental end papers. One tear in illustration, backed with archival tape. Some smaller smudges on edges, minimal fraying at head and foot of spine, o/w a very nice firm copy, for a children's book exceptionally well preserved, without markings.
