Thatcher, Joseph Addison (J.A.T.). A Colorado Outing. Smith-Brooks Press, Denver, CO, 1905.

Price: US$925.00 + shipping

Condition: Very Good

Description: Gilt-stamped maroon leather, 12mo; 23pp; illustrated with title page photo, decorative initials and 5 text drawings. "This is the story of a hunting, fishing and prospecting trip in the summer of 1871 from a camp on the North Saint Vrain River near Long's Peak, Colorado. It is an exciting story and well told"-Thomas Streeter. This was one of the few sporting titles in the Streeter collection (#4127). There seems to be some uncertainty about the author's name. Streeter refers to Joseph A. Addison and the OCLC lists Joseph A[ddison] Thatcher as the author in the 8 copies they note. The printed initials, J.A.T., appear under the title on page one. A rather uncommon book and missed by Phillips, Wetzel, Bruns, Riling and Heller in their bibliographies. This copy is in very good condition with a small quarter inch chip to the crown of the spine and light wear to the extremities. The hinges are lightly cracked but still very tight. Also, this copy is inscribed and dated in year of publication and initialed, rather illegibly, by either "J.A.A." or "J.A.T."
