Description: DESCRIPTION: This illustrated copy of Child's Garden of Verses has been written by Robert Louis Stevenson, (1850 - 1894) a Scottish novelist, poet and writer. He is well known for "Treasure Island", " Kidnapped", and also "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde". * Inserted at the front of this Volume is a copy of the Sandglass, # IIG, a four page folded pamphlet from the Heritage Press. * The dust jacket has essentially the same scene as the front and rear endpapers. There are 18 colored illustrations and 56 black & white illustrations. * The contents include the introduction, and four main areas of poetry such as:(#1.) A Child's Garden of Verses, (#2.) The Child Alone, and (#3.) Garden Days, (#4.) Envoys. * This book does not have a slip case. * The special contents of this edition are copyright 1944, by The Limited Editions Club from whom permission has been obtained by the heritage press for this edition. * This dustjacket will be protected with a Brodart archival plastic sleeve. * CONDITION: I think that this book is in very good condition with minor surface wear on the covers and dust jacket. The spine for the dustjacket is slightly darker than the rest of the dustjacket and the photograph of the book shows bumped corners at the top.

Large, heavy book, smooth black leather spine badly scuffed with surface tears and nicks, beautiful heavy boards with pattern of small white and pink spots laced with raised lacy blue criss-crossing lines, color-illustrations inside covers and adjacent end papers of children, animals and people, 112 heavy pages, profusely illustrated, many in vivid color. Despite bad scuffing to leather spine, gilt lettering is still bright. Fair.
