Description: 1958. No Edition Remarks. 206 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth covered boards with gilt. Pages remain clear with minimal tanning and foxing, mild to end-papers and text-block edges. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout, binding remains reasonably firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends. Minor fraying to cloth at spine ends. Gilt lettering is darkened.

His passion was big game hunting, and bagged numerous trophies from around the world. He was one of the first officials in charge of the Kenya Police, and after years of wanderings as a journalist, he finally settled down in Nanyuki, Kenya, about 145 miles north of Nairobi. Author of several books including ELEPHANT HUNTERS OF LADO, KILL OR BE KILLED,KENYA POLICE, A CUCKOO IN KENYA and many others, In this volume he recalls his experiences as a big game hunter in Africa, and his bagging the Big-5 (Elephant, Lion, Buffalo, Leopard and Rhino) in addition to many other large mammals and crocodiles. FIRST EDITION hardcover with the original dustjacket lightly worn. The book is inscribed "To Miss C.A.S. Peacocke, from W. Robert Foran" (signed) and dated "Nanyuki, Kenya Colony, May 21st, 1958" Illustrated with photo plates. Although the spine is lightly faded, the gilt lettering is clearly visible, no foxing, dustjacket is with the original price (21shillings) printed on the inside flap. The dj is protected in a clear plastic sleeve with very minimal wear, no rips.overall a very good volume, signed by the author, ideal for collecting.
