Facsimile of the first separate Bukowski publication, the "His Wife, The Painter" broadside tipped onto the leaf opposite the title page. Near fine acetate dust jacket. One of 350 numbered copies SIGNED by Dorbin and Bukowski.

Signed, Limited Edition of 350 hardcover copies, signed by Bukowski & Dorbin, this being #290. Also laid in is a 14-page (stapled sheets) addenda to the book. Also, with small broadside "His Wife, The Painter"- a facsimile of the first separate Bukowski publication tipped in opposite the title page. [Hearse Broadside #1]. An early bibliography on Bukowski and I cannot find any for sale in the marketplace.

Description: Copy #17 of 350 numbered copies signed by Charles Bukowski and Dorbin. A very good copy in the original mustard cloth over orange boards, paper spine label; original clear plastic jacket (lower corners bumped, plastic jacket has some tears and a chip). Laid in loose are the original prospectus and publishers printed and typed review slip. SUPERB PROVENANCE: Bill Katz's copy, with his name (apparently in John Marton's hand) on the review slip. Martin and Bukowski credited Katz's reviews of POST OFFICE and other early Bukowski titles in LIBRARY JOURNAL with helping Bukowski to turn the corner in his career, making it possible for him to support himself as a writer.
