Annotated Reference Guide to Collectible Books and Original Prints

Vampires Annotated Bibliography & Selected Collectible Books

Never has a fictional character been so widely written about than vampires. Supernatural beings with infinite and immortal powers, vampires have been depicted in many ways throughout history. Introduced as early as the mid-18th century, the vampire has been seen as exclusive to Southeastern European countries, but older folklore from Asia also has early mentions of vampires and ghoulish figures.

Documents and books written close to the introduction to vampires into the public's consciousness can be worth thousands of dollars. For example, a collector can expect to find early publications of The Vampyre, A Tale by John Polidori (one of the first tales and account of the vampire) for roughly $5000 or more!

And, of course, there is Dracula by Bram Stoker. Dracula is the most famous vampire in modern literature and has stemmed numerous depictions of vampires and is still being adapted today into pop culture. A diligent collector can find anything from first editions of Dracula novels to vintage movie posters representing many genres and portrayals of vampires in history.
