Documentation of hunting arguably dates back to the 1600s, so finding materials during this time period would be known to be highly valuable. One of the first known accounts on hunting is Cynegeticon, Or, A Poem of Hunting by Falsicus Grattius. Said to be written in 800 AD, the English translation was published in 1654. A collector may have some trouble finding a copy, but when they do, it can be found to be worth thousands of dollars!
Another route a collector can take is to look for a subject within hunting that would appeal to them. Is the collector interested in big game hunting? Hunting with dogs? Hunting in other countries? One author that a collector should strive to have in their collection is Theodore Roosevelt. Before becoming president, Roosevelt spent his time as a cowboy in North Dakota. There he was an avid hunter and ranchman. While at his ranch and after, he authored dozens of books and articles on hunting, with topics ranging from ranch life to big game hunting in Africa.
Whatever a collector is looking for with hunting books, there are vast varieties available for anyone looking to expand their collection!
