Koontz, Dean Annotated Bibliography & Selected Collectible Books

Averaging more than two novels a year, Dean Koontz is a one-man factory of thrillers, horror stories, science fiction fantasies and more. With eight novels in one particular year, few can doubt the writer's prolificacy. The newcomer might be forgiven for thinking that quality would suffer at the expense of this speed, but. the fact that he has had more than twenty bestsellers suggests otherwise.

Although in recent years Koontz has moved on to creating series such as the Odd Thomas and Frankenstein collections, the majority of his books have been standalone pieces covering a myriad of genres and themes. Some of his most acclaimed work is from the 70s and 80s such as Phantoms, Night Chills and Strangers.

Fans will tell you that his books are meticulously researched; the situations are both creative and intriguing while his outre plotlines take the reader to new and unthought-of places; all usually ending with a optimistic denouement.

Most of his earlier titles can be picked up in their first editions for around $200 to $500 per title. There are occasional exceptions, however, with limited editions or inscribed copies occasionally fetching more.

It is hard to argue with Koontz's record of sales, film adaptations and huge fan base. His diversity and flexibility has meant that while not every piece of work will go down as a classic, he has created some very impressive pieces of literature worth collecting.
