Bradbury Something Wicked This Way Comes Annotated Bibliography & Selected Collectible Books

Something Wicked This Way Comes, published in 1962, is a dark fantasy written by Ray Bradbury, an author considered by many to have been at the forefront of popularizing the science fiction and fantasy genres. The novel has been made into a radio play, several stage plays, and a Disney movie, making it one of his farthest-reaching stories.

Despite its adaptation into multiple forms of media, the book is not one of Bradbury's most popular, placing the price point for collectible copies much lower and into the budget range of many more collectors. A signed first edition sold at auction in 2006 for only $900, and even now tops out at just over $2,000 for copies in excellent condition. Signed copies that are not first edition are fairly common, as Bradbury lived until 2012 and continued writing and interacting with the public, including signing books, until 2009. Later printings of this book that are signed can be found for as little as a few hundred dollars.

Collectors on a budget can usually find first edition hardcovers of Something Wicked This Way Comes for less than $1,000 in good condition, or as little as $200 if they are willing to compromise a bit on the appearance of the book; library copies are often found at this price. The first edition was published by Simon and Schuster, and featured dark cover art with the title illustrated as a ghastly shape floating up into a night sky. This book is also often included in sets of Bradbury's work, though that price will vary widely depending on the other books in the set.
